Second Half Showcase by Jordan pushes MBB Past Cedarville, 89-84

Cedarville, Ohio.— Kentucky State University, men's basketball, capped off the end of the regular season with an 89-84 road victory against Cedarville University at the Callan Athletic Center on Thursday night.

The Thorobreds (10-16, 7-10) snapped a three-game losing skid and picked up their first road win since Feb. 6 at Spring Hill College. The Yellow Jackets (12-15, 4-7) have now lost four of their last five and have one game remaining on their schedule before the tipoff of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament.
 


Junior guard Dorian Jordan struggled in the first half due to foul trouble, accounting for only one point in the scoring column, but came alive in the second half. Jordan netted 30 second half points, finishing the night with 31, and going 13-16 from the free throw line in the process. Jordan's 30-point performance was his second of the season.

As a team, the Thorobreds shot 28-for-37 from the charity stripe for 75 percent on the night, their highest percentage of the year.
 


Senior forward Julius Barton dominated offensively for KSU, scoring 24 points, and snatching eight rebounds.  It was the eighth time this season Barton scored better than 20 points. Behind Barton's performance, KSU controlled the painted area scoring 38 points in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 44-41.

Senior guard Michael Cross contributed throughout the evening, scoring 13 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds before fouling out late in the second half.

The trio of junior Deion Fields, and sophomore guards Toussiant Shaak Rosse and Teddy Ware played valuable minutes off the bench for KSU, accounting for a combined 15 points and 15 rebounds.

KSU will now wait to see how the rest of the conference shakes out before it's determined on who they play to being the conference tournament.
