Mobile, Ala. - Kentucky State University softball dropped both games of a double-header to open the SIAC schedule against Spring Hill College on Saturday afternoon.

KSU (0-3, 0-1 SIAC) struggled to produce any offense in the first game, recording only one hit while striking out eight times in the contest.

Kaija Aikman lost her first game of the year, giving up seven earned runs and walking four batters. Junior outfielder
Alysha Sakamura went 1-for-1 and walked once, picking up the lone hit for the Thorobrettes.

KSU (0-4, 0-2 SIAC) relied on defense in the day's second game, allowing only five hits. Despite the improved play defensively, the bats were cold for the visitors as they were shutout for the third game in a row.
