Jackson, Tenn.—Kentucky State University men's basketball came up short on the road to Lane College 79-68 at J.F. Lane Gymnasium on Thursday evening.

The Thorobreds (9-14, 7-8) continue to hover around the .500 mark in conference play, with two games remaining on the schedule. KSU sits at No. 3 in the SIAC West standings with Lemoyne-Owen College fast approaching at No. 4. The Dragons (16-9, 13-4) sit atop the West and will enter the SIAC tournament as one of the top seeds when the tournament begins on Feb. 27.

Dorian Jordan led the way in scoring for KSU, as he totaled 27 points while accounting for six assists. The Cincinnati, Ohio native shot an impressive 9-of-10 from the free throw line.

Julius Barton collected his fifth double of his senior campaign as he scored 15 points, and wiped the glass clean with 14 rebounds.

The Dragons controlled the paint throughout the evening outscoring the Thorobreds 36-18 and were plus five in rebounds, 41-36. LC capitalized on the rebounding advantage with 17-second chance points, off 15 offensive boards.

KSU will battle with LOC on Saturday as both teams are looking to improve their divisional standings. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET at the Exum Center. Â
