Box Score Frankfort, Ky.-- Kentucky State University, men's basketball, picked up its first win of the season with a convincing victory over Albany State University, 83-69 on Monday night at the Exum Center.
The Thorobreds (1-6, 1-1) not only picked its first win of the young season, but it was a significant one as it came against a conference opponent. The Golden Rams (0-7, 0-2) remain winless on the season, for their worst start to a season since 2012-13.

KSU and ASU played a competitive first half where the home squad remained within striking distance. The Thorobreds made their move after a 40-40 tie with under two minutes to play to gain the lead and add to it for 47-40 at the half. Junior guard
Chas Harvey was a difference maker providing a spark off the bench with 11 points of his season-high 13 in the first half, including three, three-point buckets to gain momentum for the Thorobreds.
The second stanza featured a team playing together in unison building upon the lead. KSU never trailed in the second half, leading ASU by double-digits throughout the majority of the final 20 minutes of action.

Reggie Breeden turned in one of his best performances so far this season with a team-high 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Senior guard
Michael Stevenson exploded off the bench for a season-high 16 points and nine rebounds, in 22 minutes of play. Â

KSU will take on LeMoyne Owen College at Exum Center on Thursday night, a squad that swept the green and gold a year ago. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm ET.
