MBB Drops Season Opener to Salem International, 92-77

Box Score
Salem, W.V.—Kentucky State University men's basketball fell in its season opener on the road to Salem International University, 92-77 at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Thorobreds (0-1) have not won a season opener since the 2014-15 season when they defeated St. Catherine's College 103-80 at home, the last time KSU won a season opener on the road was against Claflin University 65-64 back in the 2010-11 campaign.

"We learned a lot about what we have and what we can get from guys," said head coach Jamaal Jackson. "We got down double-digits and fought back, but what hurt us was having to play the same five guys for the last 10 minutes. We know we have to get stronger on the boards before anything."

KSU will travel to the University of Indianapolis on Wednesday for a 7 pm ET tipoff. The matchup with the Greyhounds will start a stretch of three games over four days, with an exhibition at Eastern Kentucky University on Thursday, followed by the home opener at the Exum Center against Malone University on Saturday.
