Frankfort, Ky. – Kentucky State University volleyball recorded a come-from-behind 3-2 victory (22-25, 28-26, 25-21, 15-25, 15-13) against Berea College on "Senior Night" at Bell Gymnasium on Friday.

Micah Rogers registered a game-high 47 assists to go along with 22 digs, notching her 13th double-double on the year. Freshman outside hitter Kalyn Hurley recorded a career-high 16 kills for the Thorobrettes.
KSU (16-15) jumped out to an early 5-3 lead in the first set of the contest before going on a 7-2 run to extend its lead to 12-7. The Mountaineers went on a run of their own, outscoring the Thorobrettes 5-2 to cut the lead to 14-13. KSU followed with four uncontested points to extend its lead to four over Berea. The Thorobrettes were not able to maintain the lead as they were outscored by the visitors 12-5, dropping the first set.
The Thorobrettes took another early advantaged in the second set, leaping out to a 7-2 lead. Berea mounted a comeback of its own, outscoring the home team 8-4 to make the score 11-10 in the Thorobrettes' favor. The action was back-and-forth for the remainder of the set, as the second frame continued into extra points before KSU tied the match up at one following a kill from Hurley.
KSU fell to a 4-1 deficit before going on a 3-0 run to tie the third set up at 4. The Thorobrettes snagged the lead in the frame following 4-1 run to make the score 8-5. KSU struggled as the Mountaineers reclaimed a 10-8 lead after scoring five straight points. KSU found its rhythm as it went on a stellar 12-2 run jumping to a 20-12 advantage before ultimately winning the set 25-21, taking a 2-1 advantage in the match.
The Thorobrettes struggled early, allowing a 5-2 lead to slip away following a 4-2 Berea run to tie things up at 6 in the fourth set. The teams had battled back-and-forth before KSU tied it up again at 10, forcing a Berea timeout. KSU struggled to maintain momentum for the remainder of the set as Berea ran away with the set, winning 25-15 and forcing a fifth and final set.
KSU never trailed in the final set of the night, winning the final frame 15-13 to gain its 16th victory of the 2016 season.
The Thorobrettes will face-off against Central State University on Nov. 11 at 7:00 p.m. as they will take part in the Cedarville-Tri Match.
