FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Claflin University Panthers shot a red-hot 52 percent from the field in the second half to take down the Kentucky State University Thorobreds in an SIAC men's basketball game on Thursday night at the Exum Center.

Claflin (5-7, 2-1 SIAC) trailed Kentucky State (2-7, 1-2 SIAC), 31-30, at halftime but used a 10-point run to jump out to a 9-point lead early in the second half. The Panthers would hold that lead for the remainder of the contest. KSU kept things close, cutting the CU lead to three or less six times, but couldn't fully close the gap.

Guard
Malcolm Smith led three Thorobreds who scored in double figures on Thursday, finishing with 14 points.
Ulysses Thomas III scored 12 points on a 4-of-8 shooting performance but his playing time was limited by fouls.
Darrien Wilkins added 10 points and a game-high seven boards.

Starting guard Adolph Caldwell was the top scorer for the Panthers, picking up 12 points to go along with four boards and a pair of steals. Forwards Arthur Talley and Kendall Jackson both finished with 11 points.

The Thorobreds continue their three-game home stand with a match-up against SIAC opponent Clark Atlanta on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM at the Exum Center.
