Box Score TUSKEGEE, Ala. -- The Kentucky State University men's basketball team lost for the second time this season to the SIAC West Division leading Tuskegee Golden Tigers, 69-60, in a conference game on Thursday evening at the James Center Arena.
The Thorobreds (13-11, 10-6 SIAC) miss out on a chance to challenge Tuskegee (14-10, 11-4 SIAC) for the top spot in the West Division as they fall to the Golden Tigers for the second time this season. KSU will now jostle with Stillman for possession of second place in the standings. The Thorobreds are heading to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this Saturday, Feb. 22nd to take on the Stillman Tigers.
Kentucky State senior guard Antonio Sullivan led the way for the Thorobreds dropping in a team-high 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor. Despite the solid offensive performance from Sullivan, the rest of the Thorobreds combined to shoot just 29% from the floor. Darquell Pulliam, who came off the bench for KSU, was the only other Thorobred to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points.
KSU point guard Quentin Henderson had six points, five assists and two steals. Forward Darrien Wilkins finished with a team-high 11 rebounds but struggled offensively, going 1-for-7 from the floor and finishing with just four points.
In contrast, the Golden Tigers had four players score in double figures on Thursday. Javier McKinney led the way with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Elliot Dean had 14 points and six rebounds. Graham Olatunji and Richard Dixon both had 10 points for Tuskegee.
Next up for Kentucky State is a match-up with the Tigers of Stillman College on Saturday, Feb. 22nd, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
