Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky State University men's basketball team fell just short of victory in a tough test against the Central State Marauders, 96-100, in a non-conference battle on Monday night at the Frankfort Convention Center.
The Thorobreds (11-10, 9-5 SIAC) ended their seven game win streak as they fell to the Marauders for the second time this season.
On a night that marked the KSU mini-homecoming, the teams put on a show in front of a raucous crowd. The game was close throughout the first half with the Marauders holding a slim five point lead going into the intermission ahead, 51-46. In the second half, CSU came out hot, pushing their lead to as many as 15 points. The Thorobreds never stopped pushing back, but couldn't close the gap to less than four.
Kentucky State's Ulysses Thomas III and Devan Crain both had a team-high 20 points each, shooting a combined 10-of-23 from the field. Kentucky State showed very unselfish basketball throughout the game as they gathered 15 assist as a team. Eight of those came from Quentin Henderson, his second highest total this season.
Central State (15-7, 6-2 G-MAC) sweeps the season series against KSU as they continue a strong 2013-14 campaign.
The Marauders LeDonte Body poured in a game high 25 points, going 10-of-18 from the field in 34 minutes of play. The Marauders George Harper was dominant inside, finishing with 15 points and five rebounds. CSU had five players score in double figures.
Next up for Kentucky State is a match-up with the Bulldogs of Wilberforce University on Wednesday, Feb. 12th, in Wilberforce, Ohio.Â
