Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky State University men's basketball team fell to the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers, 82-72, in an SIAC West Division matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.
The loss ends a two game SIAC win streak that Kentucky State (4-9, 3-5 SIAC) took into the game against Tuskegee (8-8, 5-2 SIAC).
The outcome doesn't move around the SIAC standings but it does strengthen the Golden Tigers hold on the top spot in the SIAC West Division standings.
Tuskegee really spread the offensive load with five players finishing with double digit points.
The Golden Tigers made life difficult when KSU got close to the basket, blocking nine Thorobred attempts as a team over the course of the game.
Forward Richard Dixon led the way offensively for TU with a game-high 19 points to go with five rebounds.
The Thorobreds had just one starter finish with double digit points after senior Brandon Darrett picked up 11 points and nine rebounds on Saturday.
Kentucky State got some surprising production of the bench from senior reserve Earl Ruffin Jr. who finished the game with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor, all in the second half.
Kentucky State will get a chance to get back on track Monday when the Thorobreds host Stillman. The Tigers enter Monday's contest with a 10-9 overall record, 5-3 in SIAC play. As a reminder, the game was rescheduled to 3 p.m.
