Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State Thorobrette's were victorious in both games of their doubleheader against the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on Saturday afternoon. A Brittney Flores walk-off homerun secured a 4-2 victory for KSU in game one. In the second game of the day, the Thorobrette's used a collective effort to coast past Tuskegee, 11-4.

GAME ONE
Brittney Flores put an emphatic end to a back and forth game against Tuskegee in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

With the game tied at 2-2 after the scheduled seven innings, the two teams headed into extra innings. After Tuskegee failed to put any runs on the board in the top of the eighth, Flores stepped to the plate as the first KSU batter in the bottom of the inning. Flores proceeded to smash a 2-RBI walk-off homerun over the left-center field wall to plate Jasmine Anderson who started the inning on second base.

Tayler Vierra (3-5) was credited with the victory for KSU after pitching eight solid innings. Vierra surrendered nine hits in the game but limited the damage allowing just two earned runs as Tuskegee left 10 runners on base. Vierra struck out two Tuskegee batters and surrendered just one walk over the course of the game.

GAME TWO
Kentucky State used the momentum from game one to overwhelm Tuskegee in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.

KSU scored at least one run in each of the first five innings.

Rikki Martinez had an excellent game for the Thorobrette's going 3-for-3 from the plate, scoring two runs and two RBI.

Junior Kristina Oshiro had one of her best games of the season going 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBI and a run scored.

Starting pitcher Lorena Villamar helped herself by going 1-for-3 from the plate with three RBI and a run scored. Two of Villamar's RBI came on a double to centerfield in the bottom of the second inning that plated Flores and Anderson.

Villamar (2-8) earned the victory for Kentucky State after tossing a seven inning complete game. Villamar surrendered seven hits, giving up four runs but just two earned. Villamar tied a season high with six strikeouts against the Golden Tigers.

At the end of Saturday's action Kentucky State's record stands at 8-19 overall and 4-8 in SIAC play.

Tuskegee University drops to 4-16 over, 3-9 in SIAC action.

Next up for the Thorobrettes is a matchup against Bellarmine College this Wednesday afternoon in Louisville, KY.
