BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Thorobreds of Kentucky State fell to Miles College 77-74 at Know-Windham Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Senior guard
Patrick Dawson led the way for KSU offensively finishing with 20 points to pace the Thorobreds. Senior point guard
Davin Anderson contributed with five points, six assists and four rebounds. Thomass Ulysses III and
Darquell Pulliam finish with 15 and 13 points respectively.
The loss snaps a four game win streak and drops Kentucky State to 10-10 overall, 8-6 in SIAC action.
The Golden Bears were led by point guard Ty Lollar who finished with 20 points, five assists and five rebounds.
With the Golden Bears victory improves their record to 7-15 overall and 4-9 in conference play.
At the intermission Miles held a 32-20 lead over KSU. Miles took control of the first half by shooting over 50 percent from the field as a team. Much of the Golden Bear's success came from their ability to control the boards and held a 19-to-9 rebounding edge at the end of the half.
The Thorobreds made a furious comeback with less than three minutes left in the game. Three consecutive steals led to three quick layups and allowed KSU to tie the game at 69-69 with 2:06 left.
A fast break layup by Miles guard Lollar gave the Golden Bear's a 71-69 lead with just over a minute left in the game. From there Miles was able to hold on for the victory.
Dawson had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but his three-point shot was just off the mark.
The Thorobreds defeated Miles College earlier this season in Frankfort, Ky. Kentucky State earned a 66-57 victory at home on January 26
th.
Ulysses Thomas III paced the Thorobreds with 23 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Kentucky State heads back home to play Central State University on Thursday, February 14
th at 6 p.m.
