NCAA DII Celebrates 40 Years

FRANKFORT, Ky. - This year, 2013, marks the 40th anniversary for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II level.

Division II provides an intersection where athletically gifted students can compete at a high level, while maintaining much of a traditional collegiate undergraduate experience. This balance, where students are recognized for their academic success, athletics contributions and campus/community involvement, is at the heart of the Division II student-athlete experience.

Division II's academic philosophy calls for a comprehensive program of learning and development in a personal setting. Division II provides growth opportunities through academic achievement, learning in high-level athletics competition and development of societal attitudes in service to community. The balance and integration of these different areas of learning opportunity provide Division II student-athletes with a path to graduation while also cultivating a variety of skills and knowledge for life ahead.
