JACKSON, Tenn. – The Kentucky State women's volleyball team entered last weekend's SIAC West Division Cluster at the top of the SIAC West Division standings and left with five more victories to add to their total.
The Thorobrettes (17-7, 12-1 SIAC) did not drop a set during the entire Cluster hosted by Lane College, ending all of their matches with 3-0 victories.
KSU played in four matches on day one of the Cluster, Friday, Oct. 4th and one match on the morning of Saturday Oct. 5th.
Over the course of the Cluster the Thorobrettes were led offensively by juniors
Latosha Scott and
Emily Grieshaber. Scott ended the tournament with an impressive 38 kills (3.17/set) and nine blocks. Grieshaber ended with a team high 51 kills (3.64/set), five service aces, 39 digs and seven total blocks.
Kentucky State got big contributions from several other student-athletes as well. Freshman
Kirtrice Ploucha amassed 33 kills (2.2/set), 10 digs and a team high 18 total blocks. Freshman
Micah Rogers had a team high 53 digs and freshman setter
Anjelique Kyle had a team high 116 assists (9.67/set).
Next up for the Thorobrettes is a match at Berea College on Friday, Oct. 11.
