Thorobrettes Travel to Winter Park, Fla. for Rollins Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 1, 2012) – Kentucky State's volleyball team travelled to Winter Park, Fla. This weekend for their first tournament of the 2012 campaign. The Thorobrettes played four matches in the 2012 Rollins University Invitational, with their first match being against host school Rollins College. The first kill of the game was by Catrina Willis, but Rollins kept command of the match, winning 25-11, 25-9, 25-6.
 
The second match of the tournament for the'Brettes was against Pace . Emily  Grieshaber led KSU offensively in the match with seven kills. Raven Kelly followed with four kills. Pace started of the game on a strong note, with two kills in a row from Verdugo-Del Real and Nora Rugova. The Brettes came back strong in the second set, scoring 18 points, but Pace took the final set, giving them the 3-0 win over KSU.
 
Third in line for the 'Brettes was against Chestnut Hill. Catrina Willis dominated with seven kills and Raven Kelly followed directly behind with six kills. The Thorobrettes ended strong with a total of 22 kills, however in the third set Chestnut Hill went on a string of runs to take the match 25-12, 25-16, 25-13.

The final match in the tournament for KSU was against Eckerd, and the 'Brettes stepped on the court in search for a win. Catrina Willis led KSU with four kills, while Jasmine McQueen paced the Brettes defensively with 12 digs. Eckerd took the match 3-0 with scores of 25-6, 25-12, 25-10.
 
Next up for Kentucky State is their home opener against University of the Cumberlands on September 4 at 7 p.m. at Exum Center.
