FRANKFORT, Ky. (August 21, 2012) – On Friday, August 24 Kentucky State's football team will hold its annual Green and Gold Game. The intrasquad scrimmage will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium. Admission is free.
The Green and Gold Game is held annually on the Friday after classes begin at KSU, allowing students, faculty and staff, along with the community, to see the Breds in action prior to the start of the season. The game will feature two fifteen-minute quarters with a brief intermission between the two periods.
“This game is our last test before what we do counts,” stated Head Coach Wayne Dickens. “We have worked hard this preseason to correct the things that caused us to drop close decisions last year, and we are looking forward to our first test against Kentucky Wesleyan on September 8.”
The Thorobreds' season opener is a home game against Kentucky Wesleyan at 7 p.m. Last year KSU defeated the Panthers 23-7. The Breds gained 392 total offensive yards in the game, including 213 passing yards. As the season kicks off in two and a half weeks, excitement is brewing for another winning season.
