Breds Fight Hard, Lose to Central State 61-65

Box Score Frankfort, KY (February 11, 2012) – The Kentucky State University Thorobreds fought a forty-minute battle against their rivals Central State University tonight, but at the end of the game, the Breds fell to the Maruaders 61-65.

After tipoff the Breds took flight and their aggressive offense showed. The Breds and the Marauders started the game going tit for tat. With 14:00 left in the half, Troy Adam sunk a basket from behind the arc. The Breds next field goal came two and a half minutes later, with another three from Adams. Adams sealed his shooting streak with a good layup with 10:18 left.

A layup from Patrick Dawson gave the Breds their largest lead of the half (9). The Marauders gained momentum, scored offensively and defensively kept the Breds scoreless for two minutes.  Three pointers from William Marsh and Adams kept the Breds ahead. A Dunk from Markus Montague gave the crowd even more to cheer about. The Marauders went on 9-1 run to close out the half.

The Breds began the second half with a three from Austin Rich. The Maruaders played aggressive and a three pointer from Demarkus Isom-Jones gave them the lead. The score remained tight and the lead frequently changed. With 2:42 left of game play, the Breds got their last lead of the game. The Breds were unable to get past the Marauders.

Troy Adams was the leading scorer with 19 points, 2 assists and a block. Kevin Smith had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

This loss leaves the Breds at 9-12. The Breds travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take on the Lady Tigers at Stillman College on February 16, 2012.
