Kentucky State Advances to Softball Championship Game

Columbus, Ga.--Kentucky State pitcher Lorena Villamar gets Clark Atlanta looking at a strike on the last out as the Thorobrettes advance to the 2011 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's softball tournament at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Ga. with a 4-3 win over the Lady Panthers

Villamar, who pitched a complete game, gave up only four hits after relinquishing two Clark Atlanta homeruns in the first inning including a two-run blast by Ashley Brooks and a solo shot by Lakeisha Pruitt. Shenaaz Burrell recorded two RBIs including a single to center field that put Kentucky State up 4-3 for good. 

With the loss, the Lady Panthers were eliminated from the tournament with a third place finish. The Thorobrettes advance to the championship game against the East Division top-seed Fort Valley State today 12:45 p.m.
