Frankfort, KY- KSU men's basketball fall to the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee in a tough battle, 61-74.
KSU looked good as they managed to keep a solid lead over Tuskegee for most of the 1
st half. Tuskegee managed to take the lead with 14:49 left in the 1
st half after two early fouls by KSU's Freshman guard
Carlos Carter. KSU was able to regain the lead with 9:28 on the clock. KSU managed to hold off the Golden Tigers until the final minute of the 1
st half. A late jumper by Tuskegee's Calvin Thomas boosted the Golden Tigers past the 'Breds 29-30 going into halftime.
Alex Somerville (Indianapolis, IN) played well in the post during the 1
st half with 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Tuskegee began to pull away from KSU in the 2nd half as the Golden Tigers bench produced 28 2
nd half points. KSU managed to tie the game again at 16:47 on the clock but turnovers and fouls plagued the Thorobreds throughout the whole 2
nd half.
Kevin Smith (Detroit, MI) fouled out with 3:56 left in the game. KSU failed to gain another lead in the game and eventually fail the the Golden Tigers 61-74.
Senior guard
Tony Johnson (Louisville, KY) led all KSU scorers with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. KSU shot a mediocre 39% from the field and were outrebounded 37-43.
Tuskegee's Calvin Thomas led all scorers with 24 points.
