Quentin Coleman, known as Coach Q, enters his second year as the women's basketball student assistant coach. He has been at Kentucky State for two and a half years and is working on his bachelor degree in elementary education. A native of Frankfort, Ky., Coleman assists with the daily operations of the women's basketball program, including running practices, scouting and skills development. He began his coaching career under the tutelage of Chrissy Roberts at Eastern Kentucky University as a practice player. During the offseason Coleman coached youth basketball in Richmond, Ky. at the Telford YMCA and refereed adult basketball games. After two years at EKU Coleman transferred to KSU, desiring to further develop his coaching foundation under the mentorship of an HBCU head coach. During the 2011-12 season, Coleman served as a practice player for the Thorobrettes and became the student assistant coach for the 2012-13 campaign. A member of KEA and NEA through the Kentucky State University Department of Education, Coleman currently volunteers at the Kings Center, a youth center in Frankfort. He has also been heavily involved in the Read Across America program since 2010. Coleman resides in Frankfort and has one son, Noah.
