Dante Travis

Dante Travis enters his fourth year as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach with Kentucky State University’s women’s basketball program.

Travis came to KSU after holding the position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Chestnut Hill College from 2009-2010.

In 2004-2009, he was the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Saint Paul’s College. There he coached an All-Conference player and three All-Rookie players. While coaching at Saint Paul’s, he was the Assistant Director of the Student Center/Intramurals from 2004-2009. Travis also served as Head Basketball coach at Ridge School of Montgomery County in Rockville, Md.

Travis played guard at Ferrum College for one season (1994-1995) and led them to a Co-Championship of the Dixie Conference. Travis transferred to Saint Paul’s College and played shooting guard for three seasons (1997-2000).  During the 1997-1998 season Travis was a two-time “Newcomer of the Week” selection in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).  Travis also led his team in free throw percentage (92%) in 1997-1998.  Travis was team captain his senior year (1999-2000) and finished the season averaging 14.8 ppg.

Throughout his basketball career, Travis has participated in a number of volunteer activities. He volunteered at the Allen Iverson Celebrity Game in 1998, served as Commissioner of the Bryant Stith Basketball Camp (2004-2005), Assistant Director of Sports/Basketball camp at Hillcrest Heights Community Center (2006-2008) and volunteered at the Tom Crean Basketball Camp in 2011. Travis is also a member of the Black Coaches Association and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Travis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Paul’s College in 2000 and is currently pursuing his Masters in Sports Administration from Western Kentucky University.
