Exum Center

The William Exum Center, erected in 1994, serves as the home for the Kentucky State University men's and women's basketball teams. In addition to the competitive arena, which has a capacity of 2750, the Exum Center holds offices for the athletics administrative staff and basketball staffs.

The facility features two additional recreation courts, a competition swimming pool, racquetball courts, an athletic training facility, and the academic study hall. 

Academically, the William Exum Center is home to Kentucky State University HPER classes. 

 
ABOUT WILLIAM EXUM
William Exum served Kentucky State University from 1949 to 1980. He was the chairman the department of health, physical education and recreation, and athletics director from 1949 to 1977. He also, at times, served as the track and field, tennis and cross country coach for the Thorobreds. He was the men's cross country coach in 1964 when KSU claimed the NCAA College Division National Championship.

Wiilliam Exum served as the assistant manager of the USA Men's Olympic Track & Field team in 1972, and as the head manager in 1976. He was a member of the athletics congress of the USA Olympic Track and Field Committee, the selection committee of the National Track Hall of Fame, and the chairman of the National Summer Youth Sports Administrative Committee.
