Amina Seck and
Morganne Postell combined for 42 points as the Kentucky State women's basketball team fell to Clark Atlanta, 83-65, on Saturday in Atlanta.
Seck led the Thorobreds, going 9-of-15 from the field to score 21 points. She also led the game with two blocks while recording eight rebounds. Her teammate Postell matched her with 21 points, going 6-of-8 at the charity stripe and making three three-pointers.
Alycia Triplett led the contest with 13 rebounds while adding five points.
Clark Atlanta was led by Atreonia Garner with 26 points; she also led the Panthers with eight rebounds and three steals.
The Panthers got out front early, using four three-pointers and four additional shots from the field to take a 29-14 first-quarter lead.
Kentucky State rebounded in the second quarter, shooting 50% from the field to outscore Clark Atlanta 20-12. However, the Panthers maintained their advantage to go into halftime with a 41-34 lead.
Shooting over 60% from the field in the third quarter led to Kentucky State outscoring the Panthers 17-14, trailing by just four (55-51) heading into the final frame.
The Thorobreds struggled from the field in the fourth quarter. Conversely, strong shooting from the field and the charity stripe led to the Panthers outscoring the Thorobreds 28-14 in the fourth, securing an 83-65 win.
