FRANKFORT, Ky. – A 2-0 win in game two splits Saturday's doubleheader against Spring Hill as the Badgers edged the Thorobreds 3-1 in game one.
In the opener, Spring Hill homered in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
The Badgers added two more runs in the top of the sixth, capitalizing on a Kentucky State error to extend the lead to 3-0.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Jorden Bowmen doubled to left field, driving in Reagan Dudley for the Thorobreds' lone run. Kentucky State came up short in the comeback attempt, falling 3-1 in game one.
The pair remained scoreless through three innings in game two before
LillieAnn Hollom broke the deadlock with a single into right field, driving in
Tayler Floyd and advancing
Aaliyah Long into scoring position.
Kayla West followed with a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Long to tag up and score, giving the Thorobreds a 2-0 lead through four innings.
Kentucky State held Spring Hill scoreless for the remainder of the game, securing a 2-0 victory and earning the program's first win over the Badgers.
ON DECK
The Thorobreds will aim to secure the series win Sunday, April 13, with the first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. at State Stadium.
