FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State fell in straight sets to Spring Hill on Friday evening inside Bell Gymnasium, 25–14, 25–12, 25–13.
The Thorobreds were paced by
Laila Wheaton, who hit .556 with six kills and a match-high five total blocks.
Ananiah Huguely added six kills and five digs, while libero
Cydne Clayton posted a team-best 12 digs and chipped in an ace. Setters
Amber Gregory (11 assists) and
Sienna Stewart (three assists, one ace) directed the offense.
Spring Hill hit .337 as a team, led by Lillie Casey's 12 kills and Jaylyne Bell's 10 kills and five blocks. Monica Vargo dished out 34 assists, and Ashlyn Whiteside tallied 13 digs and three aces for the Badgers, who closed each set on extended runs to keep KSU at bay. Attendance was 115.
KSU finished with 20 kills, five total blocks and two aces, but was limited to a .053 hitting percentage on the night. Spring Hill totaled 44 kills, seven aces and six blocks.

The Thorobreds will face Tuskegee at 11 a.m. and Miles at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow Saturday, Oct. 4th in the final day of the SIAC West Cluster hosted by Kentucky State.
