FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State football continues to hold its ground among the nation's top programs, remaining at No. 5 in the 2025 HBCU Division II Football Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW, announced Tuesday.
The Thorobreds moved to 6-2 on the season after a final-second 17-14 win at Franklin Pierce, extending their win streak to five —the program's best since 2004. Kentucky State's run includes four road victories over Morehouse (35-17), Savannah State (37-20), Miles (38-17), and Franklin Pierce, along with a 42-14 Homecoming win against Edward Waters.
