HUNTSVILLE, Ala.  – Kentucky State football aims to extend its 3-2 series lead over former SIAC rival Alabama A&M this Saturday at 6 p.m. (CT) in the Louis Crews Classic in Huntsville, Alabama.
 
Series at Glance 
Kentucky State leads the series 3-2 against the Bulldogs taking the first meeting in 1980 in a forfeit. In their last meeting Alabama A&M defeated the Thorobreds 21-13 on Nov. 18, 2017. 
 
About the Bulldogs 
Alabama A&M opened its 2024 season on the road with a 73-3 loss to Auburn on Aug. 31. The Bulldogs hold an all-time home opener record of 24-23-1 and have won six of their last seven home openers since 2017. Head coach Connell Maynor will be seeking his 100th career win against the Thorobreds.

Kentucky State looks to rebound after a 69-7 loss to No. 20 Virginia Union (AFCA) in its 2024 home opener. On defense, the Thorobreds were led by Lawrence McConnell, Isaiah Clay, and Trevor Vines, who each recorded five tackles. Trevon Pope intercepted a pass and returned it 53 yards early in the first quarter.
 
Denim Johnson is set to lead Kentucky State at quarterback against Alabama A&M, while McConnell, Clay, and Vines will once again anchor the defense.
