CHICAGO – Kentucky State football (0-3, 0-1 SIAC) set to meet the Morehouse Maroon Tigers (0-3, 0-1 SIAC) in the 26th Annual Chicago Football Classic on Saturday, September 21st. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT inside Solider Field in Chicago, Illinois.
 
Series at Glance
Since 1998 the pair have met 21 times with the Maroon Tigers leading the series 8-12. In their last meeting (10/28/2023) the Thorobreds crashed the Maroon Tigers Homecoming taking a 23-21 win in Atlanta, Ga.
 
About the Maroon Tigers
This season Morehouse is being led by first year head coach Terrance Mathis who is winless three games into the 2024 season. The Maroon Tigers opened the year (Aug. 31)  with a 28-11 conference loss to Edward Waters and suffered a 37-13 loss to Johnson C. Smith in week two (Sept. 7). Last week (Sept. 14) they faced DI opponent Howard in the HBCU New York Football Classic and fell 35-21.
 
From the Stable
The Thorobreds are off to rocky start after opening their 2024 season (Aug. 31) with a tough 69-7 loss to nationally ranked opponent #14 Virginia Union. The tough schedule continued at DI opponent Alabama A&M (Sept. 7) where they dropped 49-7. They met their first SIAC opponent on Sept. 14 at Fort Valley State where they fell the game 42-0.
 
Chicago Classic Events
Chicago Football Classic festivities will begin on Thursday, Sept. 19 with Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Grant Stepp throwing the first pitch at 6:30 p.m. CT for the Chicago Cubs "HBCU NIGHT".
 
On Thursday, Sept. 20 will be a Pep Rally at Daley Plaza where you can get a taste of the "Battle of the Bands" that will feature your Kentucky State Mighty Marching Thorobreds at 1 p.m. CT.
 
Prior to kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 21 head to the Soldier Field – South Lawn for the Chicagoland Bands Faceoff from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. CT.
