FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State football experiences a 69-7 defeat to Virginia Union on Saturday's season opener.

Markel Cotton for a three yard touchdown that gave the Thorobreds an early 7-0 lead at 13:30 in the first quarter.
Virginia Union began to take control with 46-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game 7-7. The Panthers followed with a 39-yard passing touchdown to take a 14-7 at 6:32 in the first quarter. The final points of the first quarter came on a short pass that extended Virginia Unions lead to 20-7 at the end of the quarter.
The Panthers found more success adding seven points on a short rush near the midpoint (8:51) of the second quarter. A rushing touchdown at 3:20 in the second quarter gave Virginia Union a 34-7 lead at halftime.
Three touchdowns in the third quarter from Virginia Union extended their lead 55-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
A pair of touchdowns by the Panthers in the fourth quarter earned them a 69-7 win over the Thorobreds.
