FRANKFORT – Kentucky State University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Grant Stepp has announced the hiring of Keith Jones as head men's and women's volleyball coach after a nationwide search.
 
Jones is bringing over 20 years of playing and coaching experience to KSU, including more than three years of coaching club volleyball in Kentucky.
 
"We're thrilled to welcome Keith to Kentucky State," Stepp said. "His dedication to developing student-athletes, combined with his extensive coaching experience, makes him an excellent fit for our program. We are confident that Keith's leadership will elevate the program both academically and competitively."
 
"I am excited to help grow what I think has the potential to be two great programs moving forward. Being the new head coach, I am ready to set that new culture here with our program, I am a first contact coach. We have to be the best first contact team in every gym and then allow the rest of the game to play out for us." Jones said.
 
No stranger to Kentucky, Keith has spent the last three developing athletes in the region. He has sent athletes to the University of Kentucky, Delaware State, Berea College and Georgetown College to name a few.  
 
"The part I love about volleyball in Kentucky is the outstanding community," Keith said. "By tapping into the excellent high schools and clubs in the area, we plan to make our mark on the community here in Frankfort through active involvement.
 
Jones earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Washington State University in 2012 and his master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University in 2014.
