WILMORE, Ky. – Kentucky State snaps winning drought by sweeping Asbury in a doubleheader Tuesday evening in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Andralyn Brown,
Kamaria Hurse,
Tayler Floyd,
Tanisha Valdez, and
Savannah Teale each contributed hits, while
Kayla West's pitching shutout with five hits helped secure a 5-0 victory for the Thorobreds in the opening game.
Totaling five runs Brown led the way with two as West, Hurse and Teale scored a run each.
In the second game,
Tanisha Valdez demonstrated her prowess at the plate with a two-run homer that put Kentucky State on the board and ahead 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning.
Theresa Pelland's single brought
Neomi Thomas home, who then scored (4-1) on an error by Asbury.
Out of the nine hits
Alarryia Jones earned three of those as
Tommya Davis followed with two hits, both Thomas and
Imani Reed added doubles during the contest as well.
UP NEXT
The Thorobreds will face the Thomas More Saints this Thursday in a doubleheader begging at 1 p.m. in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
