COLUMBIA, S.C. – Kentucky State baseball falls in an exciting 10 inning third to drop the series 2-1 at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina.
Game One: Kentucky State – 7 Benedict – 15
Benedict took the first game 15-7 after a strong fifth inning in the series opener. The Thorobreds earned 10 hits and three errors during the contest.
The Tigers pulled ahead with a six-run fifth inning and clinched a 15-7 victory over Kentucky State following a three-run eighth inning.
In game one
Mitchell Collins,
Cedric Poellnitz and
Kelton Saylor each had two hits. Saylor had two doubles during his at bats.
Game Two: Kentucky State – 11 Benedict – 1
Daccarius Chapman kept the Tigers scoreless through five innings and allowed just five hits that was combined with three homers from Collins, Saylor and
Zion Lewis secured an 11-1 Kentucky State win.
The fifth inning was magic for the Thorobreds as Saylor and Collins both hit homers merged with
Parker White scoring on a wild pitch led to three runs scored during the inning.
A grand slam into left field scored the final four runs earned the double header split with an 11-1 win.
Game Three: Kentucky State – 5 Benedict -4
In a 10 inning battle Benedict pulled away with a 5-4 win on home run in the tenth inning to win the series.
Kentucky State led off the afternoon with two home runs by Collins and Zepeda-Felix.
The Thorobreds jumped ahead 4-3 in the ninth before the Tigers hit a home run at the bottom of the ninth to tie the game 4-4 and hit a homer in the 10th to win the game 5-4.

Kentucky State will host non-conference opponent Oakland City at 12 p.m. at the Western Hills Baseball Field in Frankfort, Kentucky.
