FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State women's basketball clinched a share of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference West Division regular-season title with a commanding 96-69 win over Tuskegee.
Taleah Dilworth and
Sydney Thomas each scored 14 points, leading Kentucky State's scoring effort. Dilworth was efficient shooting 6-of-8 from the field and led with four steals.
Gracen Kerr dished out six assists and scored 12 points to lead Kentucky State, hitting double figures in the process.
Mondrea Williams tallied 12 points, including a floating jumper at the 7:42 mark of the third quarter, marking her 1,000th career point.
How It Happened
Kentucky State went on a 9-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from
Naja Fenelon, to lead Tuskegee 25-11 at the end of the first quarter after holding them scoreless for 3 minutes and 48 seconds.
Sydney Thomas hit a three-pointer at the 5:23 mark in the second quarter to extend the Thorobreds' lead to 21 points, 39-18.
Shelby scored the final points of the first half on a turnaround jump shot to give the Thorobreds a 47-32 lead.
Thomas' three-pointer at 5:54 capped a 9-2 run, pushing the lead to 21 points at 61-38.
The Thorobreds held the Golden Tigers scoreless for more than two minutes in the final stretch of the fourth quarter, sealing a 96-69 victory over Tuskegee.

Kentucky State heads into the 2024 SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament as the top seed, with the official bracket to be released shortly following the conclusion of all conference games today.
