Kentucky State Football Scores 18 Unanswered Points in Win Over Central State

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Kentucky State football scores 18 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Central State 24-14, Saturday afternoon inside McPherson Stadium.
 
Kentucky State's Jaylen Middleton had 189 rushing yards that included a long of 25-yards and one rushing touchdown to have a season-high in each of those categories.
 
Jaden Hale led the Thorobreds with 54 receiving yards and one touchdown, his teammate Kale Anderson also recorded a touchdown on two receptions for 30-yards.
 
On defense the Thorobreds amassed seven tackles for a loss of 20-yards. This effort was led by Mataye Youman who recorded nine tackles, that included two for a loss of six yards.
 
The Marauders struck early in the first quarter (11:57) on a ten yard rushing touchdown to take a 7-0 lead.
 
At 5:40 of the second quarter Central State scored on a 40-yard passing touchdown to extend their lead to 14-0. However Denim Johnson scored on a quarterback keeper but a missed extra point by Landon Grover closed on the 14-6 Central State lead at halftime.
 
Johnson connected with Anderson on a six-yard pass to add six, the Thorobreds would go for two but failed. Kentucky State was able to close on the two-point 14-12 lead at the end of the third quarter.
 
The Thorobreds earned their first lead of the game on a four-yard touchdown pass from Denim to Hale, they would not convert on the two-point conversion and lead 18-14 with 11:01 remaining in the fourth.
 
A four-yard rushing touchdown by Middleton at 1:20 restored order at Central State and earned Kentucky State a 24-14 win.
