ALBANY, Ga. – Kentucky State women's volleyball fell to Albany State in a hard-fought four-set match (17-25, 19-25, 25-21, 16-25) in the opening round of the SIAC Volleyball Championship.
Camri Goodwin led Kentucky State's offense with 6.5 points and 6 kills, while
Kyeana Biggs and
Randi Neal each contributed 6 kills.
Jaicee Corcoran orchestrated the attack with 6 assists and added 9 points.
Defensively,
Zora Nooks anchored the back row with 26 digs, while
Amber Gregory contributed 23 digs. At the net,
Justice Mudd and Gregory each recorded 4 block assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
The set began with a tight exchange, but Albany State quickly took control. At 5-3, Albany State went on a 6-2 run, forcing Kentucky State to call a timeout at 11-5. Albany State continued to dominate, extending their lead to 15-8, prompting another Kentucky State timeout.

Kentucky State attempted a comeback, narrowing the gap to 15-11, but Albany State responded with a 5-1 run to make it 20-12. Despite Kentucky State's efforts to rally, Albany State maintained their lead and closed out the set 25-17.
Set Two
Albany State started strong again, racing to a 10-3 lead and forcing a Kentucky State timeout. The lead grew to 17-9, with Albany State's Jarianis Perez and Kaylin Teasley leading the attack.
Kentucky State showed resilience, closing the gap to 24-19 with a late 4-0 run, but Albany State secured the set 25-19 on an attack error by Kentucky State's
Timaia Sugars.
Set Three
The Thorobreds took an early 6-2 lead that forced a Golden Rams timeout. The set would tie three times before Kentucky State would pull ahead 20-17 and force Albany State to take another timeout.
Kentucky State went on a 5-4 run to take the set 25-21 and was led by four kills from
Camri Goodwin.
Set Four
Albany State started the fourth set with a 5-1 lead that was halted by a Kentucky State timeout. The Golden Rams would extend their lead to 15-7 and maintain it to take the fourth set 25-16
Kentucky State finished the 2024 season 9-14 overall and 9-10 in conference play.
