Box Score 2 MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Kentucky State women's volleyball sweeps Clark Atlanta 3-0 while following to Edward Waters 3-0 to split the first day of matches at the SIAC West Division Cluster in Memphis, Tennessee.
In their first match of the day against Edward Waters both teams clashed in the first set with the Tigers narrowly taking the set 26-24. The Tigers maintained their advantage taking the second set 25-19 and won the match with a 26-24 third set win.
Amber Gregory tallied 20 assists to help the Thorobreds lead the match with 34 assists. Kentucky State led the match with 60 digs with the effort being led by 13 from
Justice Mudd and 11 from
Jaicee Corcoran.
Kentucky State controlled their second match against Clark Atlanta taking final three points first set to produce a 25-22 set win. In the second the Thorobreds held the Panthers to just 15 points and won the set 25-15. Although Clark Atlanta tried to rally in the third set with five consecutive points the Thorobreds outlasted and won the set 25-18 to win the match 3-0.
Kentucky State dominated the match with 36 kills with a trio of Thorobreds,
Leah Tubbs,
Camri Goodwin and Corcoran earned seven kills each. Gregory continued to control the stat sheet leading the match with 19 assists her teammate
Jada Knight had a season of 13 assists.
The Thorobreds will complete the SIAC West Division Cluster tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 12 at 9 a.m. CT to the Benedict Tigers.
