FRANKFORT, Ky.  – Mondrea Williams secures a game-winning shot in the closing seconds, propelling Kentucky State women's basketball to an 80-78 victory over the Clark Atlanta Panthers.
 
Taleah Dilworth shot 75% (6-of-8) to lead Kentucky State with 18 points. Three Thorobreds followed with 13 points each, Gracen Kerr, Aiseosa Woghiren and Hilani Cantone.
 
Along with scoring the game winning points Williams led Kentucky State with eight rebounds and one block.
 
The game tied 1-1 on the opening position with a made layup by Dilowrth. With just under two minutes remaining in the first quarter went on an 11-point run to lead the Thorobreds 22-15 and end the quarter with a 24-17 advantage.
 
A made free-throw by Hilani Cantone tied the game at 38-38 with just 35 seconds remaining in the second quarter. A Panther layup in the final seconds gave them a 40-38 at halftime.
 
Two made free-throws by Dilworth tied the game 49-49 at the 5:46 mark of the third quarter. She tied the game 51-51 with a three-pointer a few moments later. Clark Atlanta ended the quarter with a 60-56 lead.
 
Jaylyn Shelby found one from long range to come to within one of the 60-59 Panthers fourth quarter lead. Kerr gave the Thorobreds a brief 61-60 on a turnaround jumper.
 
Dilworth made a pair of jumpers too to tie the game 67-67 with 5:52 remaining in the fourth.
 
Woghiren converted the and one attempt to secure a 70-72  Kentucky State lead at 4:00 in the fourth quarter.
 
In the final two minutes Williams made a jumper to tie the game 76-76 at 1:26 mark. Clark jumped ahead for a moment but a jumper by Cantone tied the game 78-78 as just 37 seconds remained in regulation. A layup by Williams assisted by Cantone led to a narrow 80-78 Kentucky State victory.

The Thorobreds will have a pair of road matchups in their next time out, opening the trip at Tuskegee on Jan. 13 and closing out the day at Spring Hill on Jan. 15.
