FRANKFORT, Ky. – Despite a spirited late fourth-quarter comeback, the Thorobreds fell short in their efforts to surpass the Miles College Golden Bears. Miles secured the top seed in the SIAC West Division with a final score of 70-61 against Kentucky State.
Gracen Kerr made five shots from the field alongside two three-pointers to lead her team with 15 points.
Mondrea Williams led Kentucky State with 13 rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block.
Kerr scored the first points for the Thorobreds on a floating jump shot to tie the game 2-2 at the 8:44 mark of the first quarter.

Sydney Thomas on the left side of the three-point to give the Thorobreds a brief 11-10 lead at 2:18 in the first quarter. A layup in the final seconds by Thomas closed on the 13-12 Miles lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Thorobreds were outscored in the second quarter 19-11 and trailed the Golden Bears 32-23 at halftime.
In the third quarter miles went on a 9-1 spirt to take a 43-30 lead over Kentucky State at 1:43 in the third quarter.
Seven points from Kerr and three from Dilworth and a three pointer from Williams led to a 13-0 run late in the fourth quarter. It was extended to a 15-2 run on made layup by
Aiseosa Woghiren with 1:20 remaining in regulation.
Kentucky State will head to Wilberforce, Ohio to face rival Central State on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m.
