FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State women's volleyball team faced an intense battle against the Central State Marauders on Thursday afternoon in Bell Gym, ultimately falling short with a 3-1 loss.
The opening set saw the score tied three times, with two lead changes, before the Marauders narrowly clinched the set 26-24. Central State continued their momentum, securing the second set with a score of 25-20.
However, Kentucky State found their rhythm in the third set, with eight kills, three of which came from Leah, leading to a convincing 25-16 victory, keeping their hopes alive.
The fourth set was a fierce contest, with the game being tied six times. Ultimately, the Marauders managed to break away, winning the set 25-22 and securing a 3-1 victory in the match.
Noteworthy performances included Timia Sugars, who led the Thorobreds with seven kills and contributed nine points, a feat matched by her teammate Tubbs, who also led her team with a crucial block.
