Softball Win's Both Games of Doubleheader with LeMoyne-Owen

FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Kentucky State softball team met the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians on Saturday, March 18, winning the first game 16-0 in five and the second game 14-0 in five. 

Kentucky State tallied 36 hits and 28 RBIs to score a total of 30 runs in both games of the doubleheader. Both Andralyn Brown and Neomi Thomas tallied a homerun. 

Game 1: Kentucky State 16, LeMoyne-Owen 0 
A three run homerun by Brown in the third inning, alongside 20 hits and 16 runs, led to a 16-0 victory in the first game.

Brooklyn Black tripled deep into the center to send Thomas across home and score the first run of the inning. Tanisha Valdez reached on an error that sent Black home. Taylor Floyd reached on a fielder's choice to send Valdez in. Imani Reed singled and batted in Kendall Collier to add the fourth and final run of the inning. 

Black singled batting in Thomas, and Collier doubled to send Black home. A triple by Floyd sent both Collier and Valdez across home. Reed grounded out to the shortstop, allowing Floyd to score. Theresa Pelland doubled, allowing Aaliyah Yates to score. Brown followed with a single to send in Pelland. A single by Valdez sent Brown home to give the Thorobreds a 12-0 lead at the end of the second inning. 

A single by Pelland sent her teammate Floyd home. Brown scored the final three runs of the contest on a homerun to excel the Thorobreds to a 16-0 victory. 

Game 2: Kentucky State 14, LeMoyne-Owen 0
Monster 12 run first inning, including a three run homerun by Thomas in the first inning, led to a 14-0 victory. 

A triple by Black sent Thomas home, scoring the contest's first run. Valdez followed with a single to send Black home. Collier doubled and batted in Valdez, she went on to steal home. Murphy singled to bat in Lisuanet Flores as the Thororbeds stole a few bases that ended with Murphy stealing home. Thomas went deep into left field to hit a homerun and send in Hurse and Pelland. Davis singled to send Black home, and Flores grounded out to second but not before Valdez could make it home. Murphy scored the final runs of the inning to give the Thororbeds a 12-0 lead after the first inning. 

After Floyd was walked, Murphy was able to score and add another run. 

Pelland was hit by a pitch that sent Davis home to score the final run of the afternoon and excel the Thororbeds to a 14-0 victory.

The Thorobreds will complete the series Sunday, March 18, inside State Stadium. The first pitch is slated for noon.
