MOBILE, Al. – Thorobreds led by double digits in the second and fourth quarters to defeat the Spring Hill College Badgers 75-55 Saturday afternoon in Mobile, Alabama.
Sydney Thomas hit a three-pointer to tie the game 5-5 at 6:11 in the first quarter. The Badgers would lead by as much as six points before a last-minute jump shot by
Gracen Kerr allowed the Thorobreds to come within one (13-12) at the end of the first quarter.
A jump shot by
Laurie Thomas led to a 14-13 lead at 9:46 in the second quarter. Kerr ended the quarter with a driving layup and a made free-throw to extend the Kentucky State to a ten-point 33-23 lead at the end of the quarter.
The Badgers made a jump shot in the paint to turn the double-digit Kentucky State to a single-digit 46-38 lead.
Nearly the entire Thorobreds roster scored points in the fourth quarter as
Sydney Thomas led her team with nine points. A final second three-pointer by
Nya Caruthers secured a 20-point 75-55 victory.
Kerr led Kentucky State, going 3-of-3 from the charity stripe to 14 points, seven steals, and five assists, and her teammate
Sydney Thomas scored 12 points.
Laure Thomas led the Thorobreds tallying nine rebounds while scoring ten points.
