Location and Date Change
  • The 2022 Scenic City Classic was canceled by the Milestone Marketing and Distribution Group.
  • Fort Valley State will now host Kentucky State on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. in Fort Valley, Georgia.
  • Tickets that were purchased are still good for the game at Fort Valley, tickets that were purchased at FRESHTIX.COM are refundable.
 
The Opponent
  • In week one Fort Valley State defeated league opponent Tuskegee 21-6. They rushed for 328 yards for a total of 379 offensive yards. The Wildcats held Tuskegee to 78 rushing yards and only 131 passing yards.
  • Emanuel Wilson rushed for 265 yards with two touchdowns on 20 attempts and had long of 87 yards.
  • The Wildcats defense had 60 tackles (30 solo, 30 ast), six tackles for a loss 19 yards and had one sack by Fletcher Jordan for a loss nine yards.
  • Fort Valley State last met the Kentucky State in 2016 at the SIAC Football Championship where they defeated Kentucky State 33-30.
 
From The Stable
  • The Thorobreds opened the 2022 season with a tough 33-10 loss to non-conference opponent Delta State.
  • Kentucky States offense led with 238 rushing yards and were a few yards behind Delta State's 339 total offensive yards with 309.
  • Jaylen Myers completed 100% (7-of-7) his passes for 38 yards.
  • A pair Thorobreds led the contest in rushing, Kendon Walker rushed for 101 yards with one touchdown and a long of 49 yards. Christopher Coneway rushed 81 yards with a long of 20.
  • Jaylen Johnson earned the first interception of the season and tallied eight assisted tackles.

  • Darrell Dorris Jr. led Kentucky State with three solo tackles and five assisted tackles for a total of eight tackles. He earned a one pass breakup during the game as well.
