Kentucky State Leads SIAC with 53 Student-Athletes Earning the 2021-22 D2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kentucky State led the SIAC with 53 of its student-athletes receiving the 2021-22 D2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, the D2 ADA announced Tuesday.

The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. There were a record breaking 16,639 student-athletes from 169 institutions recognized for the 2021-22 Academic Achievement Awards. This is the most student-athletes being recognized since the inception of the award's program.

To be eligible for the awards, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, have attended a minimum of two years of college level work and been an active member of an intercollegiate athletic team during his or her last academic year.

Athletic Director Ramon Johnson said, "Kentucky State University prides itself on being an institution of higher learning.  Our student-athletes understand this precedence and embrace the opportunity to uphold this standard.  We are very proud of these students-athletes, and this is a major accomplishment.  We would also like to thank D2ADA for acknowledging all of the recipients of this prestigious award and we are especially appreciative of the thought, effort and time invested in honoring these deserving athletes."
