MONTGOMERY, AL – Kentucky State baseball finishes the 2022 Tyson Black College World Series as the runner-up after a tough 3-2 loss to the Edward Waters University Tigers inside the Riverfront Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama.
 
Edward Waters scored the first run of the game on a single into left field, sending one runner home. The Tigers added their second run on a triple off the right-field fence, sending one home to lead the game 2-0 at the end of the second.
 
Collier Higgs hit a sacrifice fly to the left, advancing one run runner and sending Aram Kumar home, scoring the first right of the evening for Kentucky State. At the end of the third, the Thorobreds trailed 2-1.
 
The Tigers extended their lead to 3-1 on a single and allowed the Thorobreds to score no runs in the fifth inning.
 
The Thorobreds closed in on the Tigers after a bunt single by Kumar sent Byron Famble homecoming to within one of the 3-2 Edward Waters lead at the end of the sixth inning.
 
Dashawn Hureskin closed the remaining three innings, allowing no hits and runs, striking out three of the nine batters. The Thorobreds battled with Tigers and fell just short 3-2 to Edward Waters, the 2022 Black College World Series Champions.
 
Hureskin was named the Most Outstanding Pitcher of the 2022 Black College World Series.
 
Kentucky State fought their way out of the loser's bracket to the championship defeating Bluefield State, Albany State, and Miles sent them to the championship to finish the tournament with three wins and two losses.
