CARROLLTON, Ga. – In the opening weekend, Kentucky State baseball would finish the series 0-3 to the University of West Georgia.
Game 1: West Georgia 14, Kentucky State 1
The first run of the 2022 season would be scored by
Collier Higgs who made it to home plate from a sacrificed fly out to center field by
Adren Thompson. West Georgia would respond with five runs to close out the fifth inning with an 8-1 lead.
In the sixth inning West Georgia scored six runs to take the first game 14-1.
Game 2: West Georgia 17, Kentucky State 2
In the fifth inning
Marcus Chapman hit a single to right field allowing
John Hidgon to score at the top of the fifth inning.
West Georgia defeated the Thorobreds 17-1 after five innings.
Game 3: West Georgia 20, Kentucky State 2
West Georgia controlled the contest 17-0 at the end of the fourth inning, Thompson singled to left field at the top of the fifth inning sending Higgs across home plate.
Jared Pierce hit a ground ball to the shortstop that would allow
Aram Kumar to score the final run of the series for the Thorobreds.
The Thorobreds would fall to West Georgia 20-2.
