Raleigh, N.C.- Kentucky State women's basketball falls to Shaw 60-49 in a Sunday midday contest in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Kentucky State got into foul trouble early, with seven personal fouls in the first quarter. Shaw was able to capitalize at the charity stripe, making six of their eight attempts. Both teams took 17 shots from the field as the Bears made six compared to the Thorobreds five. Shaw ended the first quarter with a 20-12 lead.
From the field, both teams made six attempts from the field in the second quarter. Kentucky State fouls sent Shaw to the free throw line, where they made six of their seven attempts. The Bears went into the half leading the Thorobreds 39-26.
At the return of the half, the Thorobreds outscored the Bears 11-9, giving Shaw a 48-37 lead.
The fourth quarter was low scoring as both teams scored 12 points each. Shaw was able to hold off Kentucky State and win the game 60-49.
