MOBILE, Ala. – After three hard-fought sets, the Kentucky State women's volleyball team falls to Albany State 3-0 at the 2022 Cricket SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship in Mobile, Alabama.
The Albany State Golden Rams got ahead early, and a late rally attempt wasn't enough to overtake the Golden Rams as they won the first set 25-19.
The Thorobreds and Golden Rams battled it out in the second set, with the set having multiple lead changes early. Albany State gained momentum on a short run and took a 17-12 lead. The Thorobreds fought back to get within two (20-18) of the Golden Rams, but that wasn't enough, as Albany State took the second set 25-19. Albany State went on to take a 2-0 match lead.
A kill by Gyannella Vega-Ortega put the first points of third on the board for Kentucky State. The Thorobreds held a brief lead early in the set as the Golden Rams would tie the set 5-5. The set stayed neck and neck until 17-17, when the Golden Rams gained the advantage, winning the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
The Thorobreds ended the 2022 campaign 14-24 overall and 12-7 in SIAC play.
