SAVANNAH, Ga. – Four rushing touchdowns propel Kentucky State to a 28-13 on the road at Savannah State Tigers for a league win on Sunday.
The Thorobreds defense tallied ten tackles for a loss of 64 yards, led by
Jimmy Edmonds (1.5-17 TFL-Yds) and
Izaya Clay (1.5-12 TFL-Yds).
Trevon Pope earned an interception during the contest. Darrell Dorris led Kentucky State with six solo tackles and seven total tackles.
Jaylen Myers scored the first touchdown on a 14-yard rush, and an extra point by Mason Molique gave Kentucky State a 7-0 lead in the first quarter (12:21).
The first score of the second quarter (13:16) came on a three-yard rush by
Shaquan Oliver.
Savannah State scored (7:45) on a 16-yard receiving touchdown, but Kentucky State blocked the extra to keep them to just six points on the drive.
Christopher Coneway rushed into the endzone on a nine-yard rush to give the Thorobreds a 21-6 lead at the half.
Savannah State opened the third quarter (10:53) with a 28-yard receiving pass, and a good extra point closed on the 21-13 Kentucky State lead.
Jaden Hale scored the final points of the contest on a two-yard rush, and a good extra point by Molique gave the Thorobreds a 28-13 victory.
Kentucky State will travel to Lane College for a 2 p.m. kickoff in Jackson, Tennessee.
