FRANKFORT, Ky. - During homecoming Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Stadium, the Kentucky State Football defeat the Lane College Dragons 49-14.
Just minutes into the first quarter
Kendon Walker rushed into the endzone on a 58-yard run, and a good kick by
Gerardo Baeza secured a 7-0 lead with 10:43 left in the first quarter.
Otis Odom rushed for 42 yards, and Baeza's kick added seven more at the end of the first quarter. The Thorobreds led Dragons 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Lane put seven on the board in the middle of the second quarter. The Thorobreds would answer with an 11-yard touchdown run by
Kendon Walker and a good kick by Baeza. Kentucky State would lead 21-7 with 3:15 left in the second quarter. In the final moments,
Christopher Coneway would rush into the endzone on a five-yard run, and a good kick by Baeza would extend the Thorobred lead to 28-7 going into halftime.
Walker would earn his second touchdown on a 17-yard run and would extend their lead to 35-7 at the conclusion of the third quarter.
In the final quarter of play,
Shaquan Oliver would open the quarter with a three-yard rushing touchdown to increase the Thorobreds lead to 42-7 with 13:35 left in the fourth quarter.
Brett Sylve secured the final score of the day with a 30 yard run into the endzone. Lane would secure a touchdown late in the fourth but would drop the contest 49-14.
UP NEXT
The Thorobreds will head to Jacksonville, Florida to play Edward Waters College on Saturday, October 16 at 3 p.m. at the Community Field and Stadium.
