WBB falls to Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala. – The Kentucky State University women's basketball team lost for the third straight game, falling to Spring Hill College Saturday, 60-47, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at the Outlaw Recreation Center.

The Thorobreds fell to 5-13 overall, 2-8 in the SIAC, while Spring Hill improved to 7-13 overall, 6-5 in the SIAC.

TURNING POINT
After a three-pointer by senior Amani Williams (Scotch Plains, N.J.) to start the third quarter, Spring Hill answered with an 11-0 run to seize control of the contest.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
Senior forward Victoria Blankenship (Fayetteville, N.C.) led the team with 16 points on 8-of-16 shooting with five rebounds, while senior Carnethia Brown (Louisville, Ky.) added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Brown and junior Erica Jones (South Haven, Miss.) each dished out a team-high three assists.

"Today was a tough loss," said Kentucky State University Associate Head Coach Latear Eason. "We couldn't make any shots. We were getting every look we wanted out of the 3-2 zone."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
In the pivotal third quarter, the Thorobreds shot just 2-of-17 (11.8 percent) from the floor.

Junior Khaliah Herbert (Crete, Ill.) took eight of Kentucky State's nine free-throw attempts. She finished 3-of-8 from the charity stripe.

Kentucky State committed just 13 turnovers, which is 11 less than its season average.

For the fourth time this season, and the third time in the last five games, Kentucky State was beaten on the boards as Spring Hill held the 41-35 advantage on the glass.
